My Favourite Singer

Bird Thongchai McIntyre

He is artist, he is singer, he is actor, he is entertainer and many people call him "superstar". He is Thongchai McIntyre or Thai people usually call "Pi Bird" ("pi" means older brother in Thai language). Many people also call him "Bird Thongchai" or "Bird Mcintyre". Whatever people call him, he usually says please call him just "Bird".
His most memorable roles in Thai television drama series include Captain Kobori from Koogam , a tragic love story between a Japanese soldier (played by Bird) and a Thai girl (Ungsumalin) during the World War II. He was captain Kobori again when Grammy Film made "Koogam" movie or English name "Sunset at Chaopraya". Among his best-known songs are Prik Kee Noo (bird chilli) , Boomerang , Sabai Sabai (relax relax) and Kob Jai Jing Jing (Thank you truly) . His popular singles released recently include luk thung singles Mah Tummai (with Jintara Poonlarp ), Fan Ja (with Jintara, Nat Myria Bennedetti and Katreeya English ), Lao Su Kan Fang , and Yak Tham Kor Tob and Mai Kang Ying Pae from his album "Volume One".

However, an amazing thing is that his fame and popularity remain virtually intact, regardless of time. His album "Chud Rab Khaek" has a sales record of more than 3 million copies. He could sing just about anything, and millions of people will listen. Wherever he makes an appearance, people will do anything just to get a glimpse. As unbelievable as it may seem, some simply cry, when he gives them a hug. Tickets to his concerts are always sold out. Business companies would pay him anything to have him as their presenter. Who would have thought that almost 20 years after his beginning, he would still be Number One artist to millions of people? No one has ever stayed at the top this long.

When asked about the secret of his success his fans believe it lies within his determined intention, undiminished diligence, uncanny talents, and last but not least, his profound gratitude to his mother. Thai people have a deep respect, and love for family especial for Mothers who are believed to teach a child good character. By whatever means it is, he does prove that it takes much more than being a good-looking guy or having a beautiful voice to be a superstar. Since, obviously, there are many other good-looking people swith incredible voices. Yet, no one has come this far, not even close.

Too Much So Much Very Much is the latest album in 2010

The Songkran Festival

Songkran Festival !!!

The Songkran Festival in Thailand (traditional Thai New Years) is the biggest and most sought after holiday on the Thai calendar. Songkran is usually thought of as a few inebriated day of throwing buckets of water and shooting water guns where everyone is a target. It is traditional in temples all around the country to make merit by building sand pagodas. In Bangsaen the local people build both gigantic and beautiful sand pagodas.

The Songkran Festival in Thailand is not all about water splashing and having fun. Thai people also take time out to visit their local temples to make merit and also to pour rose scented water over the hands of their elders. They do this in order to receive a blessing and good luck for the new year. Some families also go to their local temple to pray and make merit for dead ancestors. The ashes of these ancestors are often contained in miniature "chedis" which are like upturned hand bells. Once finished, all of the family members will light joss sticks and then squat down to say a short prayer. The pagoda is then sprayed with scented water. Paper banknotes are later given to the temple as part of the merit making.

Traditionally, Thai people pour rose scented water over Buddha images and the hands of elders and monks. They do this in order to receive a blessing and also good luck for the new year.Thai people also go to the temple to make merit by offering food to the monks and taking part in activities such as "chedi sai" where they build stupas out of sand. The schools invites monks from a local temple so that the students and their parents could make merit.

One of the main events organized during Songkran celebrations around Thailand is the Miss Songkran Beauty Contest. The contest is a good way to view the most beautiful women in Thailand. However, don't go expecting a traditional Western type competition. The Thai girls are all dressed up in traditional clothes of this region and you won't find a swimming costume category at all. The winner of the contest will take pride of place during the Songkran Parade held in several bigger towns or cities.

Somtam (Thai Papaya Salad) Recipe

Thai papaya salad is the most popular dish among women in Thailand according to a survey I heard on TV there. It is a Northeastern food that is eaten with sticky rice and other Northeastern dishes such as laab, beef salad and bamboo shoot salad.
The two most popular types of green papaya salad have either dried shrimp or salted crab. Green papaya salad with dried shrimp and peanuts is called som tum thai. The Thai papaya salad with salted crab is called som tum pbooh. The majority of the ingredients are the same. My mother likes it with both dried shrimp and salted crab.
Many Asian supermarkets have pre-shredded green papaya and that is what I use. However, if you can only find whole green papaya, the papaya can be peeled and shredded using a regular cheese grater with medium to large sized holes. Or if you can find a papayashredder, it works wonder. When you get closer to the center, you will see the white immature seeds inside. Stop and move onto another part of the papaya. Discard any seeds that got into your bowl. If you have a food processor with grater, you can shred thepapaya faster.

In Thailand, green papaya salad is made using a clay mortar, wooden pestle and a spatula. Smash a clove of garlic first. Then add green beans and halved cherry tomatoes. Pound a few times just to bruise the beans and get the juice out of the tomatoes. Add chili peppers and crush them just enough to release the hotness, unless you like your salad really hot. Add the green papayadried shrimp, toasted peanutsfish saucelimejuice and palm sugar. Use the pestle to push the mixture up in the mortar and the spatula to push it down so that the mixture is mixed well.
However, if you do not have a big enough mortar you can crush garlictomatoes, green beans. Set them aside in a large bowl. Add dried shrimpfish saucelime juice and palm sugar to the bowl. Add green papaya and mix well. Serve withsticky rice and a sliver of cabbage, green beans and Thai basil.
For som tum pbooh, omit the dried shrimp and toasted peanuts and add salted crabs instead. I microwave the salted crabs for 30 seconds before adding them to the papaya salad to kill any residual bacteria. Add only half of the fish saucecalled for because the salted crab can be quite salty.

Pet's Health

Dog's Health

Best Dog's Food

Which is better, dry dog food or canned?

It depends on your pet and your preferences. Dry dog food costs less per serving than semi-moist or canned foods and its nutrients are more concentrated, meaning you’ll need to feed less.
That’s because dry food contains less moisture. On average, the moisture content of dog foods is 6% to 10% for dry, 15% to 30% for semi-moist, and 75% for canned.
Canned food might be better for dogs with urinary tract problems because of its higher moisture content, Wakshlag says. Canned foods also allow feeding a greater volume of food for the same amount of calories, which may help if your dog is overweight. Some dry foods are designed to help clean the teeth during chewing, but dogs with severe dental problems may do better on a moist  food.
Other things to keep in mind, depending on your pet’s health condition: Canned foods tend to be higher in fat and protein, with fewer carbohydrates; semi-moist foods contain humectants, such as sugar, to keep it from drying out; and dry foods will always contain some starch

How much should I feed my dog?

One of the most common mistakes dog owners make is “feeding too much,” Wakshlag says. About a quarter of dogs are overweight, putting them at higher risk of arthritis and other health problems.
Package labels often overestimate how much food is needed, but vets advise using these  as a guideline. You’ll know you’re overfeeding your dog if you cannot feel its ribs, there are visible fat deposits on its back and at the base of its tail, and you can’t see a waist behind the ribs when looking down at your pet.
On the other hand, if a dog is underweight, you’ll easily be able to see his ribs, vertebrae, and pelvic bones, and you won’t feel any fat over his bones.
Puppies need about twice as many calories per pound as an adult dog of the same breed. Older dogs need 20% fewer calories than middle-aged dogs because they are less active and have slower metabolisms, according to “Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats,” a 2006 report from the National Research Council, a scientific research unit of the nonprofit National Academies.
